Arrangements are underway for the final rites of the deceased Gulf migrant worker, Sreepada Naresh, in Bahrain where his body has been preserved for more than five years since his death there.
According to sources, Naresh, a native of Metpalli town in Jagtial district, died of multi-organ failure due to community acquired pneumonia in Bahrain on May 28, 2020.
The family members of the deceased approached the “CM Pravasi Prajavani” grievance cell in Hyderabad last month seeking the State government’s intervention for the repatriation of Naresh’s mortal remains to India.
The Indian Embassy in Bahrain has clarified that it is technically not possible to repatriate the body to India and urged the family members of the deceased worker to forward their consent for the cremation/burial of his mortal remains in Bahrain.
In view of this, the wife of the deceased has given her consent for the final rites to be conducted in Bahrain by signing a notarised affidavit.
Anand, the brother of the deceased, handed over the affidavit to the ‘CM Pravasi Prajavani’ in-charge G. Chinna Reddy and the Telangana government’s NRI Advisory Committee vice-chairman Mandha Bheem Reddy in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Anand will travel to Bahrain to participate in the funeral rites.
