A Deputy Tahsildar from Chandur mandal in Nalgonda district was arrested on Thursday after being trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 to process land mutation papers.
According to the ACB, the accused official, identified as Chandra Shekar, sought bribe from a complainant in exchange for handing over earlier issued mutation proceedings and related documents pertaining to land belonging to the complainant’s late father.
The tainted amount was recovered from the car dashboard of the accused officer. He was arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally in Hyderabad. The case remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, the ACB has urged citizens to report any bribery demands by public servants through its toll-free number 1064 or via its official social media channels. The bureau reiterated that the identity of complainants would be kept confidential.
