Even as the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the district has moved to top gear through the special camps being organised in all polling stations, District Collector R. Sukumar had meeting with the representatives of recognised political parties on Tuesday.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Sukumar said that of the 14,18,325 voters in five Assembly constituencies in Tirunelveli district,13,65,783 enumeration forms had been distributed till Tuesday (November 25) and 7,27,583 forms digitised upon submitted by the voters.

Of the 13.65 lakh forms distributed, 54,913 forms could not be collected back as the voters had passed away and 18,933 voters had moved permanently to some other places due to a range of reasons including transfer. Voters who are yet to submit the filled-in forms may visit https://tirunelveli-electors.vercel.app and type the voter’s name in Tamil to get their details of SIR 2002 or SIR 2005 for filling-up the enumeration form.

The voters can also contact the SIR control room at 0462 – 2501181 and 0462 – 1950 for clarifying their doubts. They can also contact the Booth Level Officers via 0462 – 2333169 (for Tirunelveli Assembly constituency), 0462 – 2500086 (for Palayamkottai), 0463 – 4250348 (for Ambasamudram), 86673 69165 (for Nanguneri) and 94860 52878 (for Radhapuram).

“Moreover, we’ve created help desks in all booths for helping the voters to fill-up the enumeration forms. The booth agents of political parties, who can submit the filled-in enumeration forms to the BLOs should also submit the declaration form signed by them,” Dr. Sukumar said.

Meanwhile, the AIADMK men, led by Manimuthar Town Panchayat’s former chairman Sivan Babu, submitted petition to the Collector against the enumeration forms allegedly received from the Manjolai tea estate workers, who have moved out of the estate after the operations in the tea estate were wound-up.

Of the 1,980 voters in Manjolai, Kakkachi, Kuthiraivetti, Nalumukku and Ooththu, most of them had left the tea estate after the tea estate functioning stopped. While a few of them have settled down in the apartments at Pappankulam and Reddiyarpatti, others have left the Ambasamudram constituency permanently. However, 1,395 forms had been reportedly distributed to the voters in the tea estate and the details of 890 voters digitised.

“It is illegal… The Collector should cancel the digitisation of 890 voters and also the five booths in Manjolai, Kakkachi, Kuthiraivetti, Nalumukku and Ooththu to avert bogus voting,” the AIADMK said.
