Hundreds of devotees from across Telangana gathered to mark the 350th Anointment Day of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru, in the mass congregation at Municipal Grounds in Chilkalguda, Sitaphalmandi, on Sunday.

The celebrations formed part of the week-long observance of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh guru, from November 23 to 30. Guru Tegh Bahadur is honoured globally for his sacrifice in defending human dignity, religious freedom and the rights of the oppressed. The event, organised by the organising committees of Gurudwara Saheb Sitaphalmandi, Secunderabad, in collaboration with Sikh gurudwaras across Telangana, saw soulful hymn recitation and traditional ‘Guru-Ka-Langar’, served to devotees sitting together in rows to symbolise equality and fraternity, the foundational principles of Sikh philosophy.

Speakers highlighted the core values of Sikhism, including truth, compassion, equality and communal harmony, and reaffirmed the message of peace and brotherhood taught by Guru Nanak Dev and the Sikh Gurus.
