The idol of Goddess Padmavati Ammavaru was taken in a grand procession on ‘Kalpa Vriksha Vahanam’ around the Tiruchanur temple near here on Thursday as part of the nine-day annual Kartheeka Brahmotsavams.
The idol was beautifully dressed in the guise of Muralikrishna, donning a peacock feather on the crown and playing a flute. Devotees made a beeline to offer worship the ‘Goddess of Prosperity’ seated under the mythological wish-fulfilling tree.
According to the scriptures, the Kalpa Vriksha appeared along with Goddess Lakshmi during the churning of the milky ocean. As such, the two are considered to have a sisterly bonding. This is yet another reason cited to take a glimpse of the procession in order to make one’s wish come true.
Pedda Jeeyangar and Chinna Jeeyangar, the senior and junior pontiffs respectively of Tirumala–Tirupati temples, led the procession, while TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, Joint Executive Officer V. Veerabrahmam and Chief Vigilance and Security Officer K.V. Muralikrishna participated.
In the evening, the idol was seated on Hanumantha Vahanam as Lord Rama.
