Helping homeless

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of NPR Arts and Science College, Natham, celebrated Deepavali with homeless senior citizens at the Lantern Old Age Home, Dindigul. They distributed new dresses and basic necessities worth ₹30,000 to about 50 elderly residents. Principal P. Saravanan, NSS Programme Officer A. Sivakumar along with faculty members and students, were present.

District-level interschool cultural meet and science expo — TALENTIA 2K26 was organised by G.T.N. Arts College, Dindigul. A total of 1650 students participated. Out of those 231 students from government schools, 862 students from government-aided schools, 160 students from CBSE schools and 558 students from matriculation schools. Principal S. Saravanan highlighted the significance of combining academic and co-curricular learning to nurture holistic development.

Secretary and correspondent K. Rethinam emphasised the importance of providing equal opportunities for both government and private school students to showcase their talents. Chief guest, P. Usha, Chief Educational Officer, Dindigul, highlighted the active participation of government school students, acknowledging their contributions in both cultural and scientific categories. She further stated that events like these help bridge educational gaps and motivate students. Vice principal (SSC) U. Nartarajan proposed a vote of thanks.

Signs MoU

Kalasalingam Pharmacy College, Krishnankoil, inks MoU with Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU), Coimbatore. TNAU registrar Tamil Vendhan, AKCP principal N. Venkateshan signed the MoU. TNAU professors A. Raviraj and Karthikeyan Subburamu were present. Chairman K.Sridharan said this MoU leads to collaborative works in the Preclinical evaluation and Pharmacological studies. Professor M.Santhanakumar coordinated.

Inauguration Day

The Sivakasi Lions International Institution celebrated its Inauguration Day. Correspondent of Mepco College A. Tenzing was the chief guest. Senior Manager, South Asia, International Baccalaureate, Mahesh Balakrishnan, was the guest of honour. He shared insightful thoughts on the International Baccalaureate and its transformative role in nurturing globally minded learners.

Faculty development programme

The Department of Computer Applications at Nadar Saraswathi College of Arts and Science, Theni, organised a six-day Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) sponsored by AICTE’s Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy on the theme Data Science to Empower the Academicians. Over 250 faculty members and research scholars across the nation participated. The FDP comprised 13 sessions focusing on the fundamentals of Data Science from scratch, along with technology and pedagogy delivered by eminent experts from the UK, Canada, Tamil Nadu and other Indian states. On the final day, an online examination based on the sessions was conducted, followed by a feedback session. Principal R. Uma highlighted the importance of Data Science and the relevance of Python as a versatile programming language in academia and industry.
