Distribution of enumeration forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in all eight Assembly constituencies of the district began on Tuesday.
District Election Officer and Collector S. Kandasamy said that the enumeration work in the district would be carried out from November 4 to December 4, 2025, based on the 2002 Special Summary Revision electoral rolls. About 41 per cent of the 2002 rolls has already been verified with the 2025 electoral rolls, he said.
A total of 2,222 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been appointed, along with 226 supervisors to oversee their work. Training has also been provided to BLOs, supervisors, and 6,820 booth-level agents nominated by recognised political parties.
Voters are not required to submit any documents during the enumeration period. However, those who fail to return the filled-in enumeration form will not have their names included in the draft electoral rolls, which will be published on December 9, 2025.
Claims and objections can be filed between December 9, 2025, and January 8, 2026, and the final electoral rolls will be released on February 7, 2026. Appeals regarding claims or objections can first be made to the District Election Officer and, if necessary, to the Chief Electoral Officer, Chennai, as permitted by the Election Commission.
Voters who have completed 18 years of age can apply for inclusion using Form 6, along with a declaration form available from BLOs. Those attaining 18 years of age on April 1, July 1, or October 1, 2026, are also eligible to apply.
Mr. Kandasamy urged the public to utilise this opportunity to update or include their names in the electoral rolls. He also inspected the ongoing voter enumeration work along Perundurai Road.
