District Collector and District Election Officer R. Brindha Devi inspected the issuing of forms to voters under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the district on Thursday (November 6, 2025).
The Collector inspected the works at areas under Salem North, Veerapandi, Sankari and Edappadi Assembly constituencies on Thursday. Addressing reporters, the Collector said that as per the notification of the Election Commission of India, the SIR of the electoral rolls is under way in Salem from October 28 and the census work is being carried out from November 4 to December 4.
The form-issuing works were inspected at Seerangapalayam in Ward 15 of Salem Corporation in Salem North Assembly constituency; Sadaiyandiyur and Anna Nagar near Majra Kollapatti in Veerapandi constituency; Sannathi Street at Tharamangalam in Sankari constituency; and Periya Soragai and Nangavalli Therkathiyanur in Edappadi constituency. Booth Level Officers (BLO) are instructed to properly follow the guidelines issued by the ECI, the Collector added.
Stating that in the district, the BLOs are assigned to all 3,264 polling stations, the Collector said that these BLOs are involved in issuing the forms to the voters in their concerned polling booths from November 4. They were advised to take appropriate action by getting the details of the voters who have permanently migrated and deceased voters within the relevant polling station through the agents of the recognised political parties. The BLOs must inform the voters in advance of the date for receiving the filled-in forms from them and ensure that the forms are received from all the voters, the Collector added.
During the Collector’s inspection, officials from the departments concerned were present.
