Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said on Tuesday that the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has released a total of ₹734.95 crore to 68 of the national capital’s 70 Assembly constituencies for new projects and the maintenance of existing sewage and water networks.
The funds have been allocated to 34 divisional offices of the DJB, each overseeing two Assembly constituencies. For the remaining two constituencies, New Delhi and Delhi Cantonment, funds will be released through the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and the Delhi Cantonment Board respectively, said an official from the Minister’s office. The official said the allocation followed consultations with MLAs .
“The Delhi Jal Board has released ₹735 crore directly to constituencies to ensure faster work, cleaner execution, and greater accountability. While overall funding has increased, this time it has been allocated in a decentralised manner, empowering MLAs to act according to local needs. Our goal is clear – uninterrupted clean water and a functional sewer network in every part of Delhi,” Mr. Singh said.
