State BJP president Nainar Nagenthran on Monday lashed out at the DMK government, accusing it of administrative failure and neglect of public welfare.

Addressing the people during his “Tamilagam Thalai Nimira Tamilanin Payanam” programme, he said the DMK had failed to fulfil several promises made before coming to power, including setting up a leather park and a trade centre in Erode. “They said uninterrupted power supply will be ensured, but even the promised electricity subsidy has not been provided so far,” he said.

Mr. Nagenthran said water contamination had affected residents in Erode district, which is known for its turmeric cultivation. He criticised the government for discontinuing the Pongal cash assistance that was given during the previous AIADMK regime. “During AIADMK rule, ₹2,500 was given to every family,” he noted.

Mr. Nagendran also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sanctioning ₹40,000 crore for Tamil Nadu’s road projects during the AIADMK regime.
