Opposition leader and DMK convenor R. Siva has opposed the decision to handover the operations of e-buses to a private player. In a statement, he said the Puducherry government should have given the operations to the PRTC which has got the experience of managing public transport in the Union Territory. He also cautioned the government against any attempt to hike the fare for e-buses.

The government should not allow the Centre to utilise the Union Territory as a “testing ground” for privatising public transport sector. The DMK will strongly oppose any such move to privatise the sector, he said.
