The DMK led a massive protest in Krishnagiri with the participation of the allied parties against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the State, on Tuesday. The protests as part of the State-wide protest call given by the DMK and endorsed by all allied parties, witnessed massive participation by the cadres at the Anna Statue grounds.
The SIR has just commenced with a short completion window of one month. The Opposition had staunchly objected to the exercise that saw elimination of lakhs of voters in Bihar in the run up to the elections. The DMK and its allies alleged that SIR would disenfranchise domicile voters and would allow for backdoor entry of migrant workers into the voter list, shifting the voter demographic that is sympathetic to the BJP

The DMK had also moved Supreme Court alleging that SIR was effectively a citizenship exercise. On Tuesday, hundreds of cadres raised slogans against the BJP and the Election Commission, with the party and its allies that included the CPI, CPI(M), Congress and the VCK participating in the protests.
The party speakers slammed the Election Commission alleging that it was acting at the behest of the BJP, doing the bidding for the party. Alleging that the EC had fallen from its Constitutional mandate, the protesters demanded a halt to the exercise.
The protests was led by East District Secretary and Bargur MLA D.Mathialagan; and the West District Secretary and Hosur MLA Y.Prakash. The protests also saw leadership from the Congress represented by Krishnagiri MP K.Gopinath; and Thally MLA and CPI district secretary T.Ramachandran.
