DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday (December 8, 2025) said ‘Udayasuriyan’ (Rising Sun, the election symbol of the party) would rule Tamil Nadu again, even if there were many opponents and competing alliances in the electoral field in 2026.
“I am not saying this to encourage you. A total of 1.86 crore people have benefitted from the welfare schemes of the ‘Dravidian Model’ government of the DMK. We must also take into account the votes of our party cadres and the beneficiaries. We can easily cross 2.5 crore votes. In 2021, our alliance secured 2.9 crore votes. We will certainly poll more votes. I place these statistics before you and, with faith in your fieldwork, I say that we will form the government again,” he told his party’s district secretaries at a meeting.
The Chief Minister said party members should tell people how the situation had changed and how relief materials and food had reached people without any delay (during natural calamities).
Addressing the functionaries for the programme ‘My Booth – My Victory’ through a virtual meeting to review the Election Commission of India’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, he said although the DMK had worked hard, it had completed only 50% of the task.
“We will consider it completed only after the verification is over and the names of voters are included in the electoral rolls. Though SIR is a task to protect voting rights, My Booth – My Victory Booth will ensure our victory. We must work in the field with commitment. None can match your dedication and commitment,” Mr. Stalin said.
He added even though the party was in a favourable position, it should not underestimate its opponents. “They will use the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Income Tax Department, and the Election Commission against us. They will spread lies and create false images. They will make use of the media and spread lies. We have to use our strength in the right manner to face them,” he said.
Mr. Stalin reiterated that ideology, office-bearers, and the dedication of party members were the strengths of the DMK, and the party should utilise these strengths to evolve its strategy. “We should invite everyone — from the unit secretary to the State office-bearers — to the My Booth – My Victory Booth meeting. I will participate in the meeting at the Teynampet booth, to be conducted by the unit secretary,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the party should ensure the participation of women and undertake door-to-door visits to verify voters’ details. “Distribute pamphlets highlighting the achievements of the DMK government. You know that I am working day and night. I expect the same from you. If you win a booth, you can win a constituency. I leave it to you to win your booth,” he said.
