A majority of voters were dissatisfied with the DMK government for not fulfilling its promise and a mood for a change of government was evident among the electorate, claimed Tamil Maanila Congress president G.K. Vasan on Sunday.
Mr. Vasan told the media here that the failures of the DMK government would reflect in the 2026 Assembly election results.
Asked about former Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan joining the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, Mr. Vasan said switching parties during election season was common. The TMC had been part of the AIADMK-led front and would continue to do so. This alliance would perform strongly in the upcoming elections. There was still time to discuss the allocation of constituencies and more parties might join the AIADMK alliance, he said.
The administration should take all precautionary measures to face Cyclone Ditwah and protect both lives and property. The State government failed to support farmers affected by heavy rain across the State and adequate compensation should be paid to them without delay, he added.
Mr. Vasan also welcomed the Governor’s decision to rename Raj Bhavan as Makkal Bhavan, saying it was a noteworthy and commendable step.
