A 38-year-old woman, S. Nesalakshmi of Karimedu, was assaulted by a woman and her son for questioning them after their pet dog bit her daughter.

Police said the Labrador dog owned by A. Sathiya of New Jail Road bit Sakthi, 12, on Saturday when she was walking on the street.

Sakthi’s mother, Ms. Nesalakshmi, went to Sathiya’s house and asked her why they had not kept the dog on a leash. Angered over this, Sathiya and her son Vijay Sarathi, 22, held her by her hair and abused her in filthy language.

After pushing her down, Vijay Sarathi assaulted her with a wooden log and threatened her with dire consequences.

Ms. Nesalakshmi was admitted to a private hospital with injuries. She lodged a complaint with Karimedu police, following which Sathiya and Vijay Sarathi were booked for using abusive language, assault, criminal intimidation and under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.
