Former J&K Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti condemned the Red Fort blast on Wednesday (November 12, 2025) and said she was worried about the implications of Kashmiri doctors being linked to the attack.

Three doctors from Kashmir have come under the scanner. Security agencies suspect one doctor could be involved in the Red Fort attack.

“The government must punish those involved. However, mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers of the suspects are being picked up and questioned. The investigation should be conducted professionally, and family members of the suspects should not be treated like criminals. This should not happen,” Ms. Mufti said.

“The Delhi blast is deeply tragic and painful. If allegations against doctors are proven true after a fair investigation, it would be a matter of great concern for Jammu & Kashmir, particularly for the Muslim community. Our brightest minds must not be driven to despair or wasted. A fair, transparent probe is essential,” Ms. Mufti said.

She said such acts besmirch the reputation of Muslims and also create problems for Kashmiris living outside J&K. “Doctors are our best brains and assets. It is a cause of concern for people of J&K and Muslims if their involvement is proven,” Ms. Mufti said.
