Coimbatore District Collector and District Election Officer Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar has stated that the door-to-door voter enumeration under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which began on November 4, is progressing smoothly.
He said that a total of 3,568 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been deployed for the exercise, with one supervisor assigned for every five BLOs and additional volunteers assisting residents in form filling.
âOne of the main challenges is accurately tracking voters who have shifted from their previous addresses. While this mapping requires extra effort, the rest of the process has been simplified for officials and the public,â the Collector added.
On Sunday, Mr. Giriyappanavar inspected the enumeration in Selvapuram, Kumarapalayam, Race Course, P.N. Pudur, Ganapathy, and Avarampalayam. During inspection, he interacted with residents, requested that they complete the forms, and ensured their submission to the BLOs after verifying voter ID details. He also instructed officials to complete the enumeration within the prescribed timeframe.
As part of voter sensitisation, he launched a voter awareness programme in the evening at Thomas Park junction in Race Course. Residents were shown a video presentation on SIR, providing an overview of the process and its significance.
