The Kayathar police are on the lookout for a farmer who allegedly murdered two persons due to prior enmity on Tuesday night.
Police said farmers Manthiram, 50, of Kappulingampatti near Kayathar and his co-brother Murugan, 60, also from the same area were consuming liquor in a bar attached to a TASMAC liquor shop at nearby Thalavaipuram on Tuesday night.
Murugan’s brother-in-law Komu, 58, also from Kappulingampatti, who came to the bar, hacked Murugan and Manthiram.
While Murugan died on the spot, Manthiram was rushed to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for treatment. However, Manthiram succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
The hunt is on to nab Komu.
During investigation, the Kayathar police found that Komu, who was recently released from the jail after serving life sentence in a murder case, was living with his wife Thangathaai at Kappulingampatti. Following frequent domestic quarrel, Thangathaai left Komu to live with her son Madasamy.
Komu suspected that Thangathaai had left him due to her brother Murugan’s support and hence he murdered Murugan and Manthiram, the police said.
