The National Library of India, Kolkata, and Dravidian University, Kuppam, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday to broaden academic cooperation in Library and Information Science (LIS).

According to a press release, the partnership will allow Dravidian University students and researchers to access the National Library’s collections and take part in structured internship and training programmes. The agreement also provides for joint initiatives in research, development, and capacity-building for university staff.

The MoU was signed by Siva Prasad Senapathi, Principal Library and Information Officer, on behalf of the Director General of the National Library, and V. Kiran Kumar, Registrar of Dravidian University, representing Vice-Chancellor M. Doraswamy. Dr. Senapathi said that while the National Library has similar collaborations with foreign universities, this is its first internship-focused MoU with an Indian institution.
