The EAGLE’s Regional Narcotics Control Cell (RNCC) of Railway, along with the Railway Police, arrested three men in two operations on trains, and seized a total of 8.1 kilograms of marijuana.
Police identified the accused in the first case as Muna Prusty and Tikash Barik, both from Ganjam district in Odisha. Officers said they were intercepted on the Konark Express after receiving credible information. They allegedly procured marijuana in Odisha and boarded the train at Berhampur with the intention of transporting it to Mumbai.
In the second incident, officers detained M. Mohan Kumar Vijay during a routine check on the LTT Express and seized 1.1 kg of marijuana from him. Police said he was travelling to Patancheru in search of work and claimed the drug was for personal use. Officers said he had purchased it near Rayagada in Odisha.
Meanwhile, EAGLE officials urged people to report drug-related information and said details shared with them would be kept confidential.
