Earth Sciences University will be developed as world-class institution befitting the stature of Manmohan Singh: Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has said Dr. Manmohan Singh Earth Sciences University of Telangana will emerge as an iconic institution befitting the stature of Dr. Singh, the former Prime Minister and a distinguished economist.

Addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony of the university, Mr. Vikramarka said the inauguration of the full-fledged Earth Sciences University, first of its kind institution in the entire country, will prove a boon for the nation. ā€œWe will develop the university into a world-class institution,ā€ he said, adding that the university will contribute immensely in promoting research in Earth Sciences.

In his speech, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for setting up the Earth Sciences University in the mineral-rich Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

He alleged that the persons at the helm in the BRS government did not have the courtesy to name any educational institution or a district after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, during whose tenure Telangana had become a reality.

The Congress government aptly named the prestigious university after the iconic leader, he said.

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao and Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao also spoke.

Minister for Animal Husbandry, Sports and Youth Services V. Srihari, Khammam MP R. Raghuram Reddy, and others were present.

It may be mentioned that the State government upgraded the existing University College of Engineering, Kakatiya University, into a full-fledged university, naming it after Manmohan Singh.

According to official sources, the university will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Geology), along with Environmental Science courses from 2025-2026 academic year.
