Earthquake of 6.5 magnitude strikes Japan’s Hokkaido; no reports of damage

An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 struck the Hokkaido region in Japan on Wednesday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

The quake was at a depth of 31 km, EMSC said. It earlier put the magnitude at 6.5 and depth at 57 km.

There were no immediate reports of damage after the quake.
