Eight children hospitalised for food poisoning

Eight children of an Anganwadi centre of Mittakandala village in Pamulapadu of the district were hospitalised on Wednesday night due to suspected food poisoning at the centre. The children were discharged from hospital as their condition stabilised on Thursday.

According to District Women and Child Welfare Officer P. Leelavathi Devi, an inquiry was conducted into the incident following directions from Minister for Women and Child Welfare G. Sandhya Rani. The children of Anganwadi centre 3 complained of vomiting and diarrhoea and were shifted to hospital.

As there were reports that the children fell ill after consuming food at the Anganwadi centre, District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya said food samples have been collected and sent for analysis. The results are awaited, she said and added the children were discharged.
