An eight-year-old boy was killed after being run over by a mini truck in Mailardevpally on Sunday evening.
The victim, identified as Syed Abulla Riyan, a Class II student at a local private school, was walking along the road with his friends around 4.45 p.m. when a mini truck (AP 2 X 2337) driven recklessly by one Rasool hit him from behind at a left curve turning.
An officer from the Mailardevpally police said the boy came under the rear tyre of the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. He died on the spot.
“Riyan left home in the evening after getting his mother’s permission to join his friends for a game of cricket at a nearby park,” said the officer.
The driver was arrested by the Mailardevpally police. A case has been registered and an investigation is under way.
