Elderly man, victim of revenge attack, dies in hospital

One of the two elderly men who was attacked by drunken youth in Ramanathapuram on November 17 succumbed to his injuries during treatment here on Monday.

Two men – Velusamy, 70, and Lakshmanan, 70, who were guarding a coconut farm at Emaneswaram, while walking along the Vaigai river bank, were attacked by drunken youths on November 17.

While Velusamy died on the spot, Lakshmanan with serious injuries was admitted at Ramanathapuram Medical College Hospital. Emaneswaram police registered a case and initiated their investigation into the murder. As per the preliminary investigation, they declared it as a revenge murder and arrested accused Alex Pandian, 26, in connection with the murder.

In this situation, Lakshmanan died at the hospital while undergoing treatment.
