Saroja, 67, was assaulted by her two sons and a daughter-in-law in a property-related dispute on North Masi Street in Madurai.
Thideer Nagar police booked S. Manikandan, 43, his brother S. Nagendran, 41, and M. Sathiya, 35, for assault and criminal intimidation.
According to police, the sons demanded their share of property on November 12. As their mother refused, they started shouting at her following which she alerted the police.
The police told the sons that as per the will, the property could be bequeathed only after the demise of their mother and warned them against troubling her. After they left, the three family members, who were angered at the woman for calling the police, beat her up.
When the neighbours came to her rescue, the sons left the scene. The woman was admitted to Government Rajaji hospital for the injuries.
