A 65-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death on Sunday night (November 9, 2025) at Sanarpalayam village in Bhavani.
The Bhavani police said the woman, identified as Rakkammal, was found dead with head injuries in a vacant site near a government primary school. A bloodstained stone was recovered from the spot.
The body was sent to the Government Medical College and Hospital at Perundurai for post-mortem examination.
Forensic experts and a sniffer dog squad from Tiruppur examined the crime scene. The dog stopped in front of the house of Ramakrishnan, who runs a snack business in the area.
Police said Rakkammal, who ran a camphor shop near Kariyakalaiamman temple, lived with her husband and son in the same locality. Both have been detained for questioning.
