A 65-year-old and a 70-year-old woman were murdered, allegedly for their jewellery, on Tuesday.
A. Periyamma of Thadanur Kattuvalavu near Edaganasalai and M. Pavayee of E. Kattur took their cattle for grazing on Monday and in the evening, the duo did not return. Their relatives searched for them and lodged a missing complaint. On Tuesday, their bodies were found in the water stored in a stone quarry. On information, Magudanchavadi police rushed to the spot and sent the two bodies to Salem Government Hospital for post-mortem.
Police inquiry revealed that the earrings and nose rings were missing. The police suspect that the duo was murdered for jewellery. The police registered a case and special teams were formed to nab the culprits. Police sources said that they suspect a person who resides in the same locality and went missing from last night.
