Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar held a review meeting with senior officials and CMDs of power utilities on Wednesday to assess the situation in cyclone-affected areas.

Officials informed him that power supply had been temporarily suspended in some regions due to strong winds and heavy rainfall. The Minister instructed them to conduct pole-to-pole inspections and restore supply in all safe zones at the earliest.

He directed that the additional manpower deployed from the SPDCL be effectively utilised to speed up restoration works at the field level. Mr. Ravi Kumar stressed the need to maintain adequate stocks of essential materials to ensure uninterrupted power supply once restoration is completed. He urged electricity staff and engineers to remain alert and strictly adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents during restoration activities. Officials said that persistent rain in some areas was hampering full-scale restoration, but all teams were working round the clock to resolve issues as quickly as possible.
