Equator Geo, a climate-change, water-tech and geospatial start-up, has achieved national recognition by winning in Cohort-4 of the AMRUT India Pitch Pilot Startup Challenge conducted under the AMRUT 2.0 Mission of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The start-up has been awarded a grant of ₹20 lakh for piloting its innovative solution in the water governance category.

The award-winning concept, ‘water credit for water conservation’, introduces a pioneering market-based mechanism inspired by the model of carbon credits.

The system enables urban local bodies to earn measurable water credits by adopting verified water-saving, recharge and conservation practices. These credits can later be monetised, creating an additional revenue stream for cities while promoting sustainable and accountable water management.

Equator Geo will now collaborate with Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to implement the pilot and refine the water credit model for broader national deployment.
