Ernakulam all set for polls to 111 local bodies on Dec. 9

Preparations for the local body elections in Ernakulam district, scheduled for December 9 as the first phase of the polls, are complete, officials said on Monday (November 10, 2025), even as the State Election Commission announced the schedule. Voting for 111 local bodies in the district will take place at 3,014 polling stations, of which 2,168 are in grama panchayats, 492 in municipalities, and 354 in corporations.

“A total of 4,650 control units and 11,660 ballot units are ready in the district. Training for the conduct of the polls has been imparted to returning officers, assistant returning officers, local body secretaries, and block-level trainers,” an official release said.

Elections will be held in 82 grama panchayats, 13 municipalities, 14 block panchayats, one corporation, and one district panchayat in Ernakulam. Votes will be counted on December 13.
