District Election Officer and Collector S. Kandasamy on Friday inspected the arrangements being made at the vote-counting centres for the 2026 Assembly election at the Government Engineering College in Chithode and the Gobi Government Arts and Science College in Gobichettipalayam.
At the Chithode college, designated as the counting centre for the Erode (West), Erode (East), Modakkurichi, Perundurai, Bhavani and Anthiyur Assembly constituencies, the Collector reviewed facilities and preparedness. He also inspected the Gobi Government Arts and Science College, where counting for the Gobichettipalayam and Bhavanisagar constituencies will be held.
He examined the required infrastructure, including strong rooms for storing ballot boxes, rooms for counting personnel, facilities for election agents, and basic amenities such as drinking water, toilets, electricity and security.
Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha and officials from various departments accompanied him during the inspection.
