Expedite Vijayawada airport expansion works, Collector tells officials

Krishna District Collector D.K. Balaji has instructed officials to expedite the expansion and development works of Vijayawada International Airport at Gannavaram and ensure their completion within the stipulated timeframe.

Chairing a review meeting with officials of various departments at the airport on Tuesday (November 4), Mr. Balaji directed them to prepare and submit proposals to the government for additional works as per prescribed guidelines. He also urged officials to resolve issues related to land acquisition, court disputes, construction of a bridge over the Eluru canal, and payment of compensation to farmers at the earliest.

According to a press note issued by the district administration, the meeting discussed the progress of the new integrated terminal building, ceiling and elevation works, vehicle parking, drainage, and other infrastructure facilities, along with pending land acquisition matters. Airport officials gave a detailed presentation to the Collector on the status of ongoing works.

Later, Mr. Balaji inspected the under-construction integrated terminal building, reviewed the pace of work on-site, and expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved so far.
Officials from the Airports Authority of India, Revenue, Panchayat Raj, Irrigation, Drainage, Rural Water Supply (RWS), and Roads and Buildings departments participated in the meeting.
