Former Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan, who was expelled from the AIADMK, tendered his resignation as Gobichettipalayam MLA on Wednesday (November 26, 2025). The nine-term MLA handed over his resignation to Assembly Speaker M. Appavu at the Secretariat in Chennai.

Mr. Sengottaiyan refused to speak to the press who posed questions on his future course of action, citing speculation of him soon joining actor Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Mr. Sengottaiyan is the second MLA of the AIADMK to tender resignation this month. Earlier on November 4, P.H. Manoj Pandian resigned as Alangulam MLA hours after joining the DMK.

On October 31, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami expelled Mr. Sengottaiyan from the party, a day after the latter accompanied expelled leader O. Panneerselvam and AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran in the same car to Pasumpon in Ramanathapuram district and also addressed a joint press meet.
