A plea to ensure clear visibility of the consecration of ‘vimanams’/towers at Sri Aadhikumbeswarar temple, Kumbakonam on December 1. The ceremony is being held after a gap of 16 years.

In a letter to the Joint Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department, Mayiladuthurai, a social activist and businessman, V. Sathyanarayanan of Sarangapani Sannadhi Street, Kumbakonam, said allowing people not connected with the performance of consecration rituals to occupy the platform put up atop the ‘vimanams’ obstruct, for the devotees, the view of pouring of holy water on the “kalasams”.

The number of persons be restricted to two or three atop the “vimanams” where single ‘kalasam’ had been installed and required number of persons only at other towers where more than one ‘kalasam’ had been installed.

As far as the photographers or videographers were concerned, only one person per ‘vimanam’ should be allowed to record the event and the feed can be shared later, he added.
