Family of three rescued from floodwaters of Sarada river

A family of three was rescued by the State authorities after they were stranded in the flash floodwaters of the Sarada river, following breaches in the river’s embankment at Rambilli in Anakapalli district on Thursday.

The embankment breached, caused the river to overflow near Kothuru village in Rambilli mandal of Yelamanchili assembly constituency. Three members of the same family, K. Prasad (35), Suvaartha (32) and Chandu (14), who were near a palm oil plantation, were caught in the flash floodwaters.

District Collector Vijaya Krishnan immediately launched rescue operations and deployed fire brigade and SDRF forces. The family of three were safely rescued and later shifted to a rehabilitation centre at Dimili Government School.

District fire officer R. Venkata Ramana, Yelamanchili fire officer D. Rambabu, Paravada DSP Vishwa Swarup and others participated in the rescue operation.
