Farmers in the district receiving assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme have been asked to obtain the Unique Farmer Identification Number (UFID) without fail.
A release from R. Sivakumar, Joint Director of Agriculture, Erode district, said the scheme has been implemented in the State since February 2019, providing ₹6,000 annually to farmers owning agricultural land, in three installments of ₹2,000 each every four months, through direct benefit transfer to their bank accounts.
The Union Government has announced that beneficiaries must obtain a Unique Farmer ID to continue receiving future instalments under the scheme. Farmers can register for the ID by approaching their respective Agriculture or Horticulture Officers, or through Common Service Centres (CSCs). They should carry their Aadhaar card, land ownership document (Chitta) and the mobile number linked with Aadhaar for registration.
In Erode district, 17,146 PM-KISAN beneficiaries are yet to obtain their unique farmer ID. The release urged all such beneficiaries to register immediately to ensure uninterrupted receipt of PM-KISAN instalments.
