Before seeking Cabinet approval for the proposed Amaravati Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) 2.0, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu informed the Cabinet on Friday that the government has been resolving pending issues faced by farmers who parted with their lands under the 2015 scheme.

According to highly placed sources, the Chief Minister said the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority has been addressing farmers’ concerns, adding that several issues have already been resolved and the remaining would be cleared soon.

He informed the Cabinet that farmers from seven villages in the Amaravati region have expressed their willingness to voluntarily give up 16,666 acres to the APCRDA under LPS 2.0 for the next phase of capital development.

The second-phase LPS villages are Vykuntapuram, Pedda Madduru, Endroyi, Karlapudi, Vaddamanu, Harischandrapuram, and Peddaparimi.

The proposal was placed before the Cabinet about five months ago but was deferred due to technical reasons and objections from members, who sought more clarity and wanted the APCRDA and the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department to address farmers’ concerns. This time, both departments submitted a revised proposal that received approval. The APCRDA also conducted village-level hearings with farmers in recent weeks.

LPS 2.0 is expected to be rolled out by Sankranti or earlier. The government is also considering acquiring additional land from other villages under the scheme for proposed projects such as the international greenfield airport and a sports city.
