The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has stopped Muslim Educational Society (MES) State president P.A. Fasal Gafoor from flying abroad.

Reportedly, emigration officials at the Cochin airport turned away Mr. Gafoor and his son who were to board a Malaysia Airlines flight to Australia in the early hours of Friday. It is learnt that the ED had issued a lookout circular against Mr. Gafoor at airports across the country after he allegedly declined to appear for interrogation regarding MES’ financial transactions, for which the agency had issued him summons.

Mr. Gafoor and his son arrived at the airport late on Thursday night to board the flight scheduled for 12.35 a.m. During passport verification, emigration officials reportedly came across the lookout circular and contacted the Kochi office of the ED. ED officials instructed that Mr. Gafoor should not be permitted to travel, following which he was stopped and turned away by emigration officials.

Mr. Gafoor could not be contacted.
