Driven by festive demand and a boost from the recent GST rate cut, India’s auto industry witnessed record-breaking monthly sales, with Tata Motors overtaking Mahindra & Mahindra in overall volumes.
However, SUVs continued to dominate buyer preferences across brands
Maruti Suzuki posted a robust 10.5% year-on-year growth, achieving its highest-ever domestic sales at 1,80,675 units.
Compact segment that includes Baleno, Celerio, Dzire rose to 76,143 units, up from 65,948. SUVs such as Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara climbed 9.8% to 77,571 units, compared to 70,644 last year.
However, sales of small cars such as Alto and S-Presso declined to 9,067 units, down from 10,687 in October 2024- a decline of 15%.

Kia India also saw impressive gains, with a 30% year-on-year growth and 29,556 units sold. The Sonet led the charge, accounting for 12,745 units.
Toyota reported sales of 42,892 units, a significant jump from 30,845 in the same period last year.
Maruti Suzuki saw a year-on-year growth of 10.5% with domestic sales reaching an all-time high of 180,675 units. Its mini segment that includes Alto, S-Presso recording a decline from 10,687 units sold in October 2024 to 9,067 units sold last month. The compact segment that includes Baleno, Celerio, Dzire sold 76, 143 units up from 65, 948 units. SUV that include Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara sold 77, 571 units up from 70,644 units in the same comparative period.
