A private bus carrying between 20-30 people returning from a wedding reception narrowly escaped a major tragedy after it collided with a car at Mahalingapuram in Shankarpally around midnight on Thursday (November 28, 2025), triggering a blaze.

The bus was travelling from Vikarabad towards Hyderabad when the speeding car, coming from the opposite direction, rammed into it head-on.

“The car driver was driving in a rash and negligent manner and collided head-on with the bus. The impact sparked a fire, damaging the car and the front portion of the bus,” said an official from Shankarpally police station.

The car driver was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital and has since been discharged. The blaze was promptly brought under control by the local police and the onlookers, preventing further damage or injuries to the passengers on board.

Police are yet to determine whether the car driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. A case has been registered by the Shankarpally police, and further investigation is under way.
