The first batch of students who completed a French language course delivered as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Alliance Francaise Pondicherry (AFP) and Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV) were presented their certificates at an event recently.
The group of about 300 students were from Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College, School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences, School of Pharmacy, School of Biomedical Sciences and School of Physiotherapy, constituent units of SBV and belonged to the batches of 2023 and 2024, a press note said.
The AFP, amongst the earliest institutions in Asia when it was founded in 1889, had entered into the MoU as part of its mission of propagate Francophone language, culture and heritage across India, and particularly in the Union Territory of Puducherry, an erstwhile French-governed region.
Bindu Meera John, Deputy Registrar, International Student Affairs, Satish Nallam, AFP president and Laurent Jalicous, AFP Director, gave away the course completion certificates to the students along with Nihar Ranjan Biswas, Vice-Chancellor of SBV.
Diane Jodi Demonti, French tutor at the AFP was honoured by SBV on the occasion.
