Fishermen advised not to venture into sea in Puducherry

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea due to inclement weather conditions prevailing over Bay of Bengal.

The Fisheries Department in a release said the sea was likely to remain rough due to low pressure in Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department has anticipated possibility of winds with speed in the range of 45 kmph to 55 kmph with chances of speed touching 65 kmph intermittently. The fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till further announcement, the release said.

Puducherry recorded around 2.89 cm of rainfall till 8 a.m. on Monday. Anticipating heavy rain, the government had declared a holiday for schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal regions. Though Puducherry remained cloudy, the region received only occasional light showers on the day.
