There is no heavy rainfall alert for Andhra Pradesh for the next three days until November 28, but fishermen have been cautioned to return to shore before November 27 as two systems are developing over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the India Meteorological Department, squally weather with wind speeds of 35 to 45 kmph, occasionally gusting to 55 kmph, is likely along and off the south Andhra Pradesh coast between November 27 and 30. Sea conditions are expected to be moderate to rough from November 27, turning rough to very rough between November 28 and 30.
The A.P. State Disaster Management Authority has advised fishermen to stay off the coast from Thursday and urged farmers to take necessary precautions.
Until November 28, one or two places in Rayalaseema and south coastal Andhra Pradesh may receive light to moderate showers. On November 29, many areas in these regions are likely to see moderate rainfall, with heavy rain expected at one or two locations in Prakasam, SPSR Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati, Annamayya and YSR Kadapa districts. On November 30, an orange alert has been issued for Prakasam, SPSR Nellore, Tirupati, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya and Chittoor.
The well-marked low-pressure area over Malaysia and the Strait of Malacca intensified into a depression on Tuesday, November 25, and was centred at 8.30 a.m. over the Strait of Malacca. It is very likely to intensify further over the next 48 hours, as per the IMD’s 3 p.m. bulletin.
Separately, another low-pressure area formed at 5.30 a.m. on Tuesday over the Comorin and southwest Bay of Bengal and Sri Lanka region, under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over the Comorin area and its neighbourhood. It is likely to move north-northwestwards, become a well-marked low-pressure area by Wednesday and intensify into a depression by Thursday.
