Five people were injured when the top floor of a three-storey building in Shahdara, east Delhi, collapsed during repair and renovation work on Tuesday, a police officer said.
The building was located in Jwala Nagar. Owner of the building, Raj Shri, 55, his son Rohit, 35, and his tenant Rajesh, 40, are among the injured. The two other injured were labourers and yet to be identified.
“The injured are receiving treatment at GTB Hospital and are stable,” the officer said. The collapse occurred while labourers were working on renovations.
A Delhi Fire Services official said the call was received around 9.50 a.m. regarding a house collapse, and five fire tenders were rushed to the spot, rescuing all the trapped persons.
