A Russian tourist, Paulina, who was visiting Kovalam, had to seek treatment at Vizhinjam CHC after a stray dog bit her on the leg on Saturday.

She was administered anti-rabies vaccine intra-dermally (IDRV) immediately.

As her wound was classified as a Category 3 wound, she later sought treatment at General Hospital where she was administered equine rabies immuno globulin (ERIG) at the wound site as part of the post-exposure prophylaxis against rabies virus, sources at GH said.
