
Former AIADMK legislator A. Baskar calls on BJP in-charge for U.T. Nirmal Kumar Surana.

A day after he resigned from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, former legislator of the party A. Baskar on Thursday met Nirmal Kumar Surana, Bharatiya Janata Party’s in charge for the Union Territory here, at a hotel.
Mr. Surana, who is on a two-day visit to Puducherry for organisational work, said it was only a courtesy call. BJP Puducherry unit president V. P. Ramalingam was present when the former AIADMK MLA called on Mr. Surana, said a BJP functionary.
Mr. Baskar, who represented the Mudaliarpet Assembly constituency in 2011 and 2016, was fielded by the AIADMK when the party contested the 2021 polls in alliance with the ruling BJP and the AINRC from the constituency. However, he failed to retain the seat contesting against DMK’s L. Sambath.
