Congress MLA and former Minister H. Y. Meti passed away in Bengaluru on November 4. He was 79. A few days ago, he had been admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru.

He represented Bagalkot Assembly constituency in north Karnataka.

He was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1989, and 2004. He served as the Excise Minister in the previous Siddaramaiah government (2013-18).

He was appointed chairperson of the Bagalkot Urban Development Authority in 2024.
