The Bhavani Nagar police arrested four men, including a receiver of stolen property, in connection with a robbery reported on November 30. Officers said cash, mobile phones, two-wheelers and a knife were recovered during the operation conducted with support from Rein Bazaar police, Mirchowk police and the South Zone Task Force.
Police identified the accused as Syed Irfan Mohiuddin, 30, Mudassir Alahi, also known as Shaik Sahil, 19, Mohd Zahid, 37, and Mohd Abdul Rahman, 25.
Investigators said the accused, residents of Talabkatta, do private jobs. According to police, they conspired to steal ₹40 lakh from complainant Mohd Sultan – after Zahid, who knew him, allegedly told the others that he had cash at home for a property purchase.
Officers said Irfan and Sahil entered the complainant’s house on November 30 at around 5.30 a.m., assaulted him and took ₹40 lakh, a mobile phone, and a scooter. “The cash was divided among the four, with part of the amount given to Rahman for safekeeping. We recovered ₹13.66 lakh from Irfan, ₹13 lakh from Sahil and ₹4 lakh from Rahman. The remaining amount was spent,” an officer said.
Police said the group typically targeted cash, mobile phones and two-wheelers, selling stolen items at low prices. Officers traced Sahil using CCTV footage and UPI transaction details from a petrol station, leading to the arrest of the others. They said Irfan had previous cases registered against him.
The recovered property includes ₹34.66 lakh in cash, five mobile phones, five two-wheelers, and a knife. Police said the accused were produced in court.
