Four arrested for honey-trapping IT firm owner using dating app in Coimbatore

The R.S. Puram police have arrested three men and a woman on charge of honey-trapping an IT firm owner and robbing him of ₹1.30 lakh and other valuables.

The arrested have been identified as A. Kannappan of Vedasandur in Dindigul district, P. Srilakshmanan of Theni, S. Prasana of Nammakkal and M. Lavanya of Valparai.

The police said that the victim aged 45, who runs an IT firm in the city, got introduced to one of the accused through a dating app. The accused offered massage service and asked the victim to meet him at Gandhipark. He visited the place on November 15 and the accused allegedly photographed him with a woman in compromising positions. Later, they threatened the victim of sharing the photos with his family members and robbed him of ₹1.3 lakh, a mobile phone, a debit card and two sovereigns of jewellery, said the police.

The R.S. Puram police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the IT firm owner the next day and launched an investigation. The four accused involved in the honey-trapping and robbery were arrested on Friday.
